Campbelltown Hunter
Exhibit Koala
Campbelltown Hunter was found in the western suburbs of Sydney. He was repeatedly observed crossing a busy road notorious for wildlife accidents. One day Hunter was rescued by Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife and taken into care, it is thought his condition was the result of being hit by a car. Hunter was left with reduced vision and a possible brain injury.
Given the dangers of his impaired state, it was deemed unsafe for Hunter to return to the wild. Hunter quickly adapted to his new environment and developed a laid back and happy disposition. His story highlights the risks roads and loss of habitat pose to wildlife but also underscores the importance of wildlife sanctuaries in providing safe havens for animals like him.
Hunter was transferred to the Koala Conservation Hospital Port Macquarie for specialised ongoing care and permanent residency. Hunter joins our 3 existing very special Campbelltown koalas already in residence. He is a large mature healthy male aged 7 years old and weighing in at 8.4kgs.
