Wild Koala Breeding Guulabaa welcomes 'Founder' koalas!

Welcome to our new wild koala breeding program founders.

As the koala breeding season commences in August '24, we're excited to announce that we have introduced four new koalas to our Wild Koala Breeding Program. Handsome bachelor Jeff is pictured, and is joined by the delightful, Fern (pic below), Lawson and Jasper! They've all settled into their new, spacious enclosures at Guulabaa, bringing us to 6 breeding founder koalas for the program.

All our Founder koalas have undergone rigorous health checks and screening to ensure our breeding population is disease-free and healthy. Our founder koalas also come from a broad range of locations within our permitted collection area, to ensure no genetic overlap and that impacts on those populations are minimal.

Towards the end of 2024 we will be opening our purpose-built breeding facility at Guulabaa, and welcoming visitors to a unique, immersive experience. There'll be fascinating insights into koalas and their behaviors as well as introducing the research around our world-first koala conservation program.

There will be multiple opportunities to connect with nature, with local culture and, of course, with koalas in the Guulabaa precinct, the 'place of koalas'.
