Media & Commercial Filming Requests
We see the media as vital partners in helping us achieve our goals, and we welcome media visits and requests. To ensure our koalas feel secure and safe, we have established guidelines during media visits.
Filming around wild koalas
Our Koala Hospital treats injured and sick koalas. Each time journalists or crews visit the hospital, it can disrupt the work of our staff and volunteers in caring for the patients. In addition, our patients are wild koalas and respond poorly to noise, being photographed, or being handled. Other than our exhibit koalas (located in the hospital's public areas), we don’t allow any photographs or filming of our rehabilitation patients.

Media guidelines
The Application Process
All media requested are to follow the guidelines below:
- All requests must be sent to media@koalahospital.org.au with an outline of what is requested/proposed
- All requests for a visit, filming or an interview to be at least seven days or more ahead of a planned visit
- Once a request is assessed the Media Coordinator will respond via email, outlining KCA’s requirements
Please note, the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is located on land managed by NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service. You'll need to obtain approval from them also, which we'll need to see when you arrive at the Hospital. See here for details.
